Born in 1961 in Ankara, Prof. Dr. Muhterem Bahçe graduated from Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 1986. She started working as a physician at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine. Between 1990 and 1995, she completed her doctoral studies on 'Cytogenetic Investigations of Recurrent Spontaneous Miscarriages: Fetal, Maternal, and Paternal Cytogenetic Examinations and Clinical Correlations' in the Department of Medical Genetics at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine. From 1997 to 1998, she received training on 'PCR and FISH Applications in Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis' at Saint Barnabas Medical Center IVF Research Laboratory in the United States. She was appointed Associate Professor in 1999 and obtained the title of Professor in 2008. She currently serves as the Head of the Medical Genetics Department at GATA (Gülhane Military Medical Academy) and as the Responsible for MB Genlap Genetic Diseases Diagnostic Center.
