Short Biography
Gülcan Bağçivan earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the Gülhane Military Medical Academy School of Nursing in 2003. She graduated from the Internal Medicine Nursing Department of the same university with her master's degree in 2008 and her doctorate in 2012. Additionally, in 2018, she graduated from Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences with a master's in epidemiology. In 2018, she was given the position of Associate Professor.
Prior to receiving her degree, she spent one year as a clinical nurse in medical oncology at the "GATA Haydarpaşa Training and Research Hospital" and the next two years as a workplace nurse in Kayseri. She worked as an instructor at the GATA School of Nursing while pursuing her postgraduate degree, and from 2015 to 2017 she was a postdoctoral visiting researcher, conducting research on palliative care in the US.researcher.
She held a position as an education coordinator at Gülhane Training and Research Hospital in 2017 and has been a faculty member at Koç University Faculty of Nursing since October 2018.
Her specialties include adult cancer patients' symptom management, palliative care, and oncology nursing. She has participated in numerous research initiatives and published work in both domestic and foreign journals. She currently serves in a number of roles, including those of Chair of the Oncology Nursing Association Research Committee, Board Member of the European Oncology Nursing Society, Executive Committee Member of the Global Power of Oncology Nursing (GPON) community, and Co-Chair of the European Oncology Nursing Society Research Group.
